Oil and Gas Processing Operations Practice (Gas Dehydration)
This course develops the skills required to carry out gas dehydration operations.
It is designed for individuals wishing to progress to a career as a Process Technician and also would also be relevant for individuals who would like to develop a basics understanding of, and/or some basic skills in, processing operations e.g., Maintenance Technicians.
Learning Objectives :
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the need to dehydrate natural gas and typical associated specifications
- Explain the water-gas system behaviour and main associated operating strategies
- Describe main gas dehydration processes, associated operating parameters
- Explain steady state conditions and factors impacting performance
- Perform start-up, shutdown and routine monitoring of main gas dehydration process
- Outline operating procedures and operator duties associated to the process
Prerequistes :
It is recommended that learners complete the OPITO Global 1 Training Certificate: Basic Oil and Gas Processing or equivalent training before undertaking this Training Certificate.
In particular, it is recommended that the learners have attended Basic Oil & Gas Processing Operations Techniques prior to attending this unit.
Teaching methods :
- The course will be delivered by means of classroom lectures and practical exercises in the training workshop or on a real-life plant.
- Workshop/on-site practice content: 70%
- Pre & post course tests are performed to measure knowledge acquisition.
- Assessment are carried out in an oil and gas processing training workshop with access to functioning plant (real or simulated) and an integrated control room with some closed loop control.
- Learners are assessed in the role of a plant operator and in the role of a control room operator (CRO).
