Maintenance Working Practices

This unit develops an understanding of key operational requirements of working in a maintenance workshop, including care of tools, housekeeping, use maintenance schedules and checklists, the role of handovers and practices for reporting and communication and maintaining working relationships. This Unit should be completed by all Candidates undertaking a training programme at Oil and Gas 2.

Learning Objectives : 

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to: 

  • Describe the safety measures to be taken when working with electrical equipment.
  • Identify the role and implementation of health and safety legislation and procedures in the oil and gas industry.
  • Describe hazards associated with the workshop environment and the control measures used to minimise risks.
  • Carry out risk assessments for routine maintenance tasks.
  • Health and safety legislation and practice.

 

Teaching methods :

  • The course will be delivered by means of classroom lectures and practical exercises.
  • Workshop practice content: Assessment of practical skills will be done through the production of a range of risk assessment for routine maintenance tasks.
  • Pre & post course tests are performed to measure knowledge acquisition.
