Instrument and Control Maintenance Techniques: Fire and Gas Detection Systems
This unit develops an understanding of the function, operation and routine maintenance requirements associated with fire and gas detection systems. It is recommended that An Introduction to Instrument and Control: Protection and Detection Systems is completed before undertaking this Unit and that Instrument and Control Maintenance Practice: Fire and Gas Detection Systems is completed in conjunction with this Unit.
Learning Objectives :
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- Outline the function and operation of fire and gas detection systems.
- Outline typical signs of fault, damage, wear and corrosion in fire and gas detection systems.
- Describe typical routine maintenance requirements of fire and gas detection systems.
- Equipment – fire and gas detection systems.
- Routine maintenance techniques for fire and gas detection systems.
- Technical information and guidelines.
Teaching methods :
- The course will be delivered by means of classroom lectures and practical workshop exercices.
- Written questions could be supported by oral questions using equipment in the workshop – for example, identifying and naming faults or damage on a piece of equipment and/or describe the sequence of dismantling a piece of equipment. If oral questions are used, a record of the questions, equipment and learner responses must be retained.
- Pre & post course tests are performed to measure knowledge acquisition.
