Electrical Maintenance Techniques: Single and Three-Phase Electrical Distribution Systems
This unit develops an understanding of the function, operation and routine maintenance requirements associated with single and three phase electrical distribution systems. It is recommended that An Introduction to Electrical Maintenance: Electrical Distribution Systems is completed before undertaking this Unit and that Electrical Maintenance Practice: Single and Three-Phase Electrical Distribution Systems is completed in conjunction with this Unit.
Learning Objectives :
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- Outline the function and operation of single and three-phase electrical distribution systems.
- Outline typical signs of fault, damage, wear and corrosion in single and three-phase electrical distribution systems.
- Describe typical routine maintenance requirements of single and three-phase electrical distribution systems.
- Equipment – single and three-phase electrical distribution systems.
- Routine maintenance techniques for single and three phase electrical distribution systems.
- Technical information and guidelines.
Teaching methods :
- The course will be delivered by means of classroom lectures and practical workshop exercices.
- Written questions could be supported by oral questions using equipment in the workshop – for example, identifying and naming faults or damage on a piece of equipment and/or describe the sequence of dismantling a piece of equipment.
- Assessments can also be combined with other Units where relevant, for example, Electrical Maintenance Practice: Single and Three- Phase Electrical Distribution Systems.
- Pre & post course tests are performed to measure knowledge acquisition.
