Electrical Maintenance Techniques: Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Equipment

This unit develops an understanding of the function, operation and routine maintenance requirements associated with heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment. It is recommended that An Introduction to Electrical Maintenance: Electrical Distribution Systems is completed before undertaking this Training Standard and that Electrical Maintenance Practice: Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Equipment is completed in conjunction with this Training Standard.

Learning Objectives :

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Outline the function and operation of heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment.
  • Outline typical signs of fault, damage, wear and corrosion in heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment.
  • Describe typical routine maintenance requirements of heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment.
  • Equipment – heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment.
  • Routine maintenance techniques for heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment.
  • Technical information and guidelines.

Teaching methods :

  • The course will be delivered by means of classroom lectures and practical workshop exercices.
  • Written questions could be supported by oral questions using equipment in the workshop – for example, identifying and naming faults or damage on a piece of equipment and/or describe the sequence of dismantling a piece of equipment.
  • Assessments can also be combined with other units where relevant, for example, Electrical Maintenance Practice: Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Equipment.
  • Pre & post course tests are performed to measure knowledge acquisition.
