Basic Oil and Gas Processing Drawings

This course develops the skills required to use and interpret P&IDs and isometrics for plant/equipment for oil and gas processing operations. In addition, this course develops the knowledge to analyse control loops used in oil and gas processing operations. 

It is designed for individuals wishing to progress to a career as a Process Technician and also would also be relevant for individuals who would like to develop a basics understanding of, and/or some basic skills in, processing operations e.g., Maintenance Technicians. 

Learning Objectives : 

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to: 

  • Identify the components of control loops and the technology used in field instrumentation 
  • Analyse control loops on P&IDs, explain the behaviour of control loops and their impact on oil and gas process systems 
  • Outline the purpose of P&ID’s and ways of obtaining information from P&ID’s 
  • Outline the role of isometrics for maintenance 
  • Read and interpret P&ID’s and Isometrics for oil and gas processing operations. 

 

Prerequistes :

  • It is recommended that candidate complete the OPITO Global Foundation Training Certificate: Introduction to Oil and Gas Processing or equivalent training before undertaking this course. 
  • Participants shall have attended OGTS-P05 prior to attending this module. 

 

Teaching methods :

  • The course will be delivered by means of classroom lectures, demonstrations, and skills training exercises 
  • Workshop practice content: Not applicable for this unit. 
  • Pre & Post Course Test are performed to measure knowledge acquisition.
