Basic Measuring and Marking-out Instruments
This unit covers the skills to use safely, care for and store a range of basic measuring and marking-out instruments and tools and select appropriate instruments/tools to carry out routine maintenance and workshop tasks.
Learning Objectives :
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- Outline the use of basic measuring and marking-out instruments
- Select and use basic measuring and marking-out instruments
- Demonstrate care of basic measuring and marking-out instruments
- The purpose, use and care of a range of basic measuring and markingout instruments /tools
- Basic precision measuring instruments
Teaching methods :
- The course will be delivered by means of classroom lectures and practical workshop exercices.
- Workshop practice content: observations of learners demonstrating the use of basic measuring and marking-out instruments and tools correctly for specified tasks in the maintenance training workshop. This will include measuring and marking out components or work pieces to create a given artifact. Learners must be provided with drawings and instructions produced for the artifact.
- Pre & post course tests are performed to measure knowledge acquisition.
