An Introduction to Engineering Communications

This unit develops the skills required to have an understanding of simple engineering terminology and communication tools and how to use them in the context of simple maintenance workshop tasks.

Learning Objectives : 

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to: 

  • Identify the meanings of simple engineering terms. 
  • Demonstrate the use of simple engineering communication tools 
  • Interpret information provided using a range of simple engineering communication tools  
  • Prepare simple two-dimensional drawings of solid shapes to scale 
  • Add dimensions to simple two-dimensional drawings 

 

Teaching methods :

  • The course will be delivered by means of classroom lectures and skills training exercises. 
  • Workshop practice content: Practise working with these measuring & marking tools and the creation of a basic artifact for OGTS-Ass-F . 
  • Pre & post course tests are performed to measure knowledge acquisition.
